Emil Frey Racing confirmed its status as a Zandvoort specialist by taking the ROWE Pole Position Award in Qualifying 2 at the Dutch track. Konsta Lappalainen secured top spot at the wheel of the #14 Ferrari with a lap of 1m33.192s.
The Finn – who had not previously taken overall pole in his six-year GT World Challenge career – beat yesterday's race winner Louis Prette (#58 Garage 59 McLaren) by more than two tenths of a second. The Monegasque also earned another Gold Cup pole in the car he shares with Tom Fleming.
Ben Green completed a stellar showing for Emil Frey Racing by qualifying third in the #69 Ferrari, which was a podium finisher in Saturday's race. Max Hesse will start fourth after finding excellent pace in the #46 Team WRT BMW, while Matias Zagazeta took fifth overall and second in Gold aboard the #51 AF Corse Ferrari. He will share the third row with overall title contender Ricardo Feller (#80 Lionspeed GP Porsche).
Patric Niederhauser produced another strong qualifying performance in the #96 Rutronik Racing Lamborghini to secure P7 on the grid, followed by Christopher Haase (#84 Eastalent Racing Audi), Arthur Leclerc (#50 AF Corse Ferrari) and Gilles Magnus (#10 Boutsen VDS Porsche).
Oliver Söderström gave the #21 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin its first Silver Cup pole of the year by qualifying 19th overall for this afternoon's race. The Bronze Cup pole-sitter was just one spot back with Charles Dawson doing a superb job in the #222 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG.
Silver champions elect Matisse Lismont and Ignacio Montenegro will start 28th overall and sixth in class after the latter handled today's qualifying session. They are likely to seal their Sprint title this afternoon, which would complete a remarkable clean sweep for the season.
Once again, the expected front-runners struggled for one-lap pace. The #48 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG of Maro Engel will start 13th, while Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing's Chris Lulham qualified 15th. Kelvin van der Linde could only manage P22 in the #32 Team WRT BMW, which must also serve a five-place grid penalty for contact last time out at Magny-Cours.
