Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed topped Free Practice 2 at the Nürburgring courtesy of an early flier from Fabian Schiller.
The session was barely 10 minutes old when the German ace posted a 1m54.962s to put the local squad at the head of the order. Schiller could not be displaced and finished the day 0.212s faster than Dries Vanthoor (#991 Paradine Competition BMW). The Belgian, who is back on Endurance Cup duty for the first time since the opener at Circuit Paul Ricard, ensured that his car was P1 in the Bronze Cup.
Mattia Drudi was third fastest in the #7 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin, which needs a big result this weekend to keep the Endurance Cup title fight alive. The Italian was 0.006s shy of Vanthoor and 0.022s faster than Sven Müller in the #97 Rutronik Racing Porsche.
The #30 Team WRT BMW was fifth overall and led the Silver Cup order thanks to Ignacio Montenegro. The #23 Team RJN McLaren was next on the timing screens and a close second in Silver, followed by the #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing.
Eighth overall went to Benji Goethe, who paced the Gold Cup aboard the #58 Garage 59 McLaren. The #87 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG and the #59 Garage 59 McLaren completed the top 10.
The most noteworthy incident of the session saw Sergio Sette Camara go off at Turn 11. The Brazilian had lost control of the #11 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin before reaching the corner and made light contact with the barriers, ending his participation in FP2.
With Saturday complete, attention can turn to a busy Sunday at the Nürburgring. Cars will be on track at 09:45 for qualifying, followed by the main event – a three-hour Endurance Cup race – at 15:00. Both can be watched live and free on the GT World YouTube channel.
