Team RJN led an unfamiliar order in Free Practice 2 at Monza, which saw just one Pro car among the overall top six and a noticeable absence of the usual front-runners.
Ben Dörr posted a 1m46.315s aboard the British squad's #23 McLaren to put RJN in P1 with its Silver Cup entry. Second overall for the second session in a row went to the #24 Steller Motorsport Corvette, which was 0.025s off top spot with Dennis Lind at the wheel. As in FP1, this car also led the Gold Cup classification.
Mirko Bortolotti was third overall and the best Pro car, providing an encouraging result for TGI Team by GRT with its new Lamborghini Temerario. Ariel Levi placed fourth and yet only second in the Silver Cup aboard the #66 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi, with Alex Frassineti next and P2 in Gold in the sister #99 machine.
Sixth went to another McLaren with Guilherme Oliveira doing a solid job in the #5 Optimum Motorsport entry. The top 10 also included the #51 AF Corse Ferrari, the #98 ROWE Racing BMW, the #71 Selected Car Racing Ferrari, and the #10 Boutsen VDS Porsche.
The #87 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG topped the Bronze Cup in 11th spot overall. Italian ace Gabriele Piana was at the wheel, lapping 0.166s shy of the benchmark. Indeed, the entire field was covered by a tiny margin, with an incredible 54 cars lapping within a second of each other.
Having led this morning's session, the #3 Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing entry was 16th. They, and many others, are likely to have been carrying out race runs during FP2, having completed their qualifying simulations during FP1. The #48 Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter (12th), the #59 Garage 59 McLaren (19th), the #7 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin (21st) and the #32 Team WRT BMW (29th) were also out of position in FP2.
Qualifying is scheduled for 09:35 CEST on Sunday morning followed by the main event – a three-hour Endurance Cup race – at 15:30. Watch it live wherever you are via the GT World YouTube channel.
