There's everything to play for when the 2025 Sprint Cup season concludes next weekend at Valencia (19–21 September). Here are five reasons to make the trip to the track for what promises to be an epic title decider.
A PERFECT LOCATION
In terms of location, this is one of the best stops on the calendar. The track is just over 15 minutes from Valencia Manises Airport and less than 30 minutes from the city centre, putting it within easy reach of a bustling urban area.
Valencia has a rich history, beginning life under the Roman Empire before periods of Islamic and Christian rule. This is reflected in the city's varied architectural styles, making it a perfect place to spend a few days sightseeing.
There's also plenty of culture on offer. Perhaps the best known is the City of Arts and Sciences, a stunning complex of modernist buildings located close to Valencia’s historic port. Other sites of interest include Valencia Cathedral, which dates back to the 13th century, and an impressive central market which is filled with Mediterranean delights.
AN EPIC TITLE FIGHT
With all Sprint Cup teams' and drivers' titles still up grabs, there is literally everything to play for at Valencia. Team WRT BMW duo Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts top the overall standings with 72 points, but they're under huge pressure from Marvin Kirchhöfer and Benjamin Goethe. The Garage 59 McLaren drivers have 70.5 points and were the best scorers across the previous two events.
But this isn't a two-horse race. Patric Niederhauser/Sven Müller (Rutronik Racing Porsche) and defending champions Maro Engel/Lucas Auer (Team Mann-Filter Mercedes-AMG) are well within striking distance, while Jordan Pepper/Luca Engstler (Grasser Racing Lamborghini) and Alessio Rovera/Vincent Abril (AF Corse Francorchamps Motors Ferrari) could also cause an upset. That makes six crews in the hunt, each representing a different team and manufacturer.
Class title glory is also up for grabs in the Gold Cup, Silver Cup and Bronze Cup, all of which will be decided at the final round of the season. In fact, there's every chance that nothing will be certain until the chequered flag is shown on Sunday afternoon.
ROOW: MOTORSPORT, URBAN CULTURE AND TECH
The Valencia weekend includes a host of extra activities organised by ROOW, which aims to transform fans from passive viewers into active participants by combining speed with culture and entertainment. There will be drifting, track shows, and an exhibition of more than 500 cars and 50 motorcycles. ROOW will also organise Formula Influencer Attack, in which influencers race single-seaters, and a “car football” tournament!
This will be accompanied by music throughout the weekend. Kidd Keo will perform on the main stage from 18:00 on Saturday, which is included with general admission tickets. There will also be a social media raffle in which fans can win a chance to ride shotgun in a Ferrari and take part in test drives. For more information on ROOW, please click here.
SUPPORT ACTION ON-TRACK
The event will also feature a more familiar line-up of support race action. The GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli stages its penultimate round of the season at Valencia, which means champions could be crowned in the Pro-Am and Am classes.
Porsche Carrera Cup France rejoins the line-up having previously appeared at Misano. This popular and long running championship features rising stars and experienced Porsche specialists, all of whom drive the Stuttgart marque's 911 GT3 Cup racer.
The Clio Cup Series is also well worth watching. The fast, nimble Clio is perfect for racing, and with huge grids it’s never short on action. The final laps often resemble a kart race, with plenty of overtaking and extremely close finishes. In total, the Valencia weekend will provide six hours of racing – plus a further 10 hours of practice and qualifying – on the 4km circuit.
EVEN MORE FOR FANS TO ENJOY
As ever, this GT World Challenge event will deliver a complete fan experience. There will be a pit walk during the lunch break on both Saturday (from 13:05) and Sunday (from 12:30), giving the public a chance to stroll down the pit lane and watch the teams at work in their garages. In the paddock, they will have access to a wide variety of food stalls, offering everything from burgers and sandwiches to ice cream and slushies. There will be a children's play area, merchandise shops, and even a barber!
All of this – as well as three support series, everything ROOW has to offer, and the conclusion of an epic Sprint Cup season – costs just 30€ for the weekend. Single-day tickets are available for 20€, while kids up to the age of 12 can attend free with a paying adult. For ticket information, please click here.
